Overview

For nearly four decades, the UCLA Office of Instructional Development TA Training Program has put on a campuswide Teaching Assistant Conference in the Fall as a means to help both new and experienced teaching assistants improve their teaching skills. Conference participants receive this assistance through general sessions, a teaching panel, and hands-on workshops that examine a variety of different aspects of teaching at the undergraduate level.

Come to...

      • learn strategies for the first day of class

      • overcome your fear of public speaking

      • ask experienced TAs and professors your questions about teaching

      • receive feedback on your teaching from experienced graduate students and fellow novice TAs in our microteaching workshops

      • hear how you can incorportate technology in your classroom

      • discuss how to lay the foundations for successful student writing, including giving constructive feedback and grading

      • learn strategies for teaching and grading problem-solving in math and the sciences

      • find out about leading dynamic discussions

Keep in mind...

      • Even if you are not going to be a TA this coming year, as a UCLA graduate student you are welcome to attend the conference in preparation for future teaching assignments.

      • You can register for any portion of the conference.  Come for one workshop or come for the entire day - you decide!

      • All participants must check in on September 24th at Dickson Court South to receive conference packages.  Check-in is open all day.
