Instructional Technology

Teaching Enhancement Center (TEC@OID)
TEC@OID assists UCLA Faculty in developing instructional multimedia presentations by providing equipment, software and training from experienced consultants. By providing a place for Faculty to learn and to use technologies, professors (or their GSRs) have successfully completed projects scanning 35mm slides, creating PowerPoint presentations which incorporate graphics, video, or audio for classroom use, creating CD-based courseware, and converting video or audio into digital formats for use on a website or in class.

Instructional Media Production
Instructional Media Production (IMP) supports all aspects of effective presentation, with a staff of media professionals and a state-of-the-art technical facility.  Each project receives in-depth consultation to develop a specifically-tailored and comprehensive communication strategy. Emerging new media, especially computer-based instruction, desktop video, CD-ROM and the World Wide Web, are new formats for presenting highly-visual information.

Instructional Media Collections & Services
The Collections & Services Department primarily serves faculty and departmental personnel who use media in the classroom. The collections include approximately 8,000 videotapes, DVDs, laserdiscs, CD-ROMs, films and slide/tape modules and houses and IMCS maintains several department and study center collections.

Instructional Media Lab
The UCLA Instructional Media Lab provides access to course-related materials for self-study, group instruction or research.   The Media Lab enables faculty to incorporate media into the curriculum beyond using limited classroom hours, and offers students an opportunity to learn at their own pace, with the flexibility of studying at times convenient to their individual schedules.
